Anyone check the health news this morning?  Is coffee good or bad this week?  I’ll assume good so this post is relevant, if it’s bad then read on rebels!

As an anniversary gift this year we upgraded to a Keurig.  My husband is frivolous, I am frugal.  A single cup coffee maker is not frugal.  We managed to compromise!  He got his Keurig, albeit used, from eBay and I got My K-Cup.  Only when I fail to keep a supply of k-cups on hand, which is often cause I’m frugal, does my husband use My K-Cup.  At all other times my husband generates a mountain of single use k-cups.

Mt. K-Cup.

I’m a gardener.  My garden likes these grounds.  My garden deserves these grounds.  My garden NEEDS these grounds!

There’s an old saying that goes something like “better to keep quiet and let people think you are insane than write a blog and remove all doubt.”  Okay maybe not quite like that… but here I am removing all doubt.

Mining black gold.

You can buy nifty tools designed specifically for mining black gold, they are often mislabeled as “corn cob holders.”

Get the filter too!

Coffee and filters headed to the compost tumbler.

I have a compost tumbler so I grab the filter too, if I wasn’t composting the grounds I’d toss them straight on my garden or lawn and forget the filter.

Coffee grounds are great for lawns and gardens.  Most coffee shops will give you used grounds if you ask.  Starbucks has a program called Grounds for Your Garden, I’ve been known to drop by a Starbucks for the sole purpose of getting grounds.

If you are a coffee drinker and you’re not using your grounds may I have them?
