I’m a gardener not a grounds keeper.  Need proof?  Read on!

Zebra stripes!

I striped the lawn with a poor Spring application of crabgrass preventer and fertilizer.  It’s now late summer and the crabgrass is growing in stripes too!

Splotches!

Hey, we built a retaining wall!  Back to the lawn, my attempt to fix the stripes ended in a broken spreader and splotches resultant of another poor fertilizer application.  I’m 2 for 2, 3rd time is the charm, right?  Well, sort of…

Free Compost.

Rows of black gold.

Load of crap.

Piles of crap.

The crap has spread.

The "Before," actually 2 days after.

2 weeks after.

3 weeks after.

We applied the compost on a hot day, the circles you see are where the grass “cooked” under the piles before spreading.  All in all the compost worked nicely.

The "before" and 3 weeks "after" compost.

Lessons in lawn care take years to learn, next year I know a few ways NOT to do things.
